Information

We are accepting artists for the G.A.M. Convention! Sell your goods to an eager audience of gaming and anime enthusiasts!

Basically, each spot in the Artists' Alley will include the use of one-half of a table and one chair for the duration of the convention. This time period includes one hour for set-up, eight hours of regular convention time, and one hour for tear-down for 2015. You will get to share a table near the video game free-play area so you will be in a prime location for foot traffic. Artist's spots cost $25 apiece and must be paid in advance. If this sounds good to you, please send payment via PayPal for a spot in the Artists' Alley. We also accept checks and money orders by postal mail - if paying using one of these methods, please send the payment by postal mail to the address listed on this page instead.

After sending payment, please also send a message to us using this form with:

  • Your business's name
  • Your name
  • The names of anyone who might be operating the spot with you
  • An overview of what you plan to sell
  • Written acknowledgement that you understand and consent to the facts that:
    1. You are allowed only to sell what is legal to sell
    2. No items which would be rated at more than the movie equivalent of PG-13 will be sold nor visible on the convention's grounds
    3. This is meant to be a family-friendly event and merchandise sold should reflect that
    4. No bootleg merchandise is to be present nor sold
    5. Any items requested to be removed by official convention representatives need to be removed from sale and sight immediately following the request for removal

Remember that the difference between a spot in our artists' alley and a vendor's spot is that vendors are selling officially licensed commercial items which include but are not limited to CD's, DVD's, Blu-ray discs, wall-scrolls, standees, posters, action figures, statues, plushies, fans, cell phone straps, shirts, kimono, yukata, video games, computer games, books, kites, character goods, et cetera - generally anything which is authorized merchandise which has been mass-produced; whereas artists are selling items of their own original, artistic creation and/or inventive reinterpretation. However, existing business entities such as partnerships, LLC's, etc., which are operating commercial ventures must purchase a vendor's spot regardless of whether it will be selling fan-made goods and/or officially licensed merchandise.

Items artists are allowed to sell include but are not limited to:

  • CD's, DVD's, USB drives, and Blu-ray discs containing their own original videos or other media
  • Plastic models
  • Paper models
  • Plaques
  • Carvings
  • Whittlings
  • Wall hangings
  • Wall-scrolls
  • Cards
  • Posters
  • Cosplay outfits
  • Model kits
  • Hand-made plushies
  • Buttons
  • Pins
  • Hand-operated fans
  • Pens
  • Lanyards
  • Cell phone straps
  • High-quality prints
  • Badges
  • Video games and computer games of your own creation
  • Shirts
  • Kimono
  • Yukata
  • Self-authored books
  • Kites
  • Fan art

...and other objects featuring either original creations or greatly re-imagined existing creations - basically anything which is fan-made, creative, and individually crafted. More or less, most individuals and small groups selling their own creations should be getting artist's spots, while everyone else including most businesses and large groups should be getting vendor's spots.

No bootlegs of any kind are allowed from vendors nor artists.

Examples: A vendor can sell officially released anime DVD's - an artist cannot. A vendor can sell officially licensed Sailor Moon shirts - an artist cannot. An artist can sell t-shirts featuring an obvious parody of Sailor Moon and so can vendors. An artist can sell hand-made One Piece-inspired hats - a vendor cannot. An artist can sell a DVD containing her YouTube videos - a vendor can sell its YouTube videos on DVD too. Nobody is allowed to sell unauthorized reproductions of Dragon Ball Z videos, manga, video games, nor merchandise. Not sure what counts as what or if something is allowed? Write to us in advance with details about the item(s) and we will help you figure it out one way or the other! Or, if you are already at the convention, bring it to the attention of one of the convention's organizers and we shall set the record straight.

Please keep in mind that you or your agent(s) will need to show photo ID(s) when arriving to claim your spots. Artists are also allowed to reserve as many spots as they please at the going rate of $25 for usage of each set of one chair and one-half of a table during the time period outlined above. Each artist's spot also includes free admission for one person so that those working the tables don't need to pay for separate admissions just to get to work. Tables measure approximately two feet by five feet (2' x 5'). Multiple spots can be reserved for more table space, seats, and admissions.

The deadline for reserving artist's spots is July 31st.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us using our contact form, and thanks for your interest. We hope to see you at the convention!

Convention Venue Announcement for 2015 (Our Chosen Location Finally Revealed!)

Information

After a many-months-long, seemingly endless search, we have finally found a venue which meets our needs yet stays within our budget. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and otaku of all ages, we have finally found a place which satisfies all of our requirements so we can now at last announce the place chosen for the 2015 G.A.M. Convention!

Our convention will be at the Swain Brothers' Restaurant (the restaurant inside of the Weston Plaza) located at 1684 West Highway 40 in Vernal, Utah. Specifically, the convention will happen inside of one of this establishment's spacious ballrooms. We have already reserved our convention's room and all systems are go! There will be plenty of room for our Main Events area as well as the Side Events areas in the back corners of the room. Thus we should be able to comfortably fit 50 - 100 people with chairs into the room alongside the projector, projector screen, panel table, vendors' tables, and more. And if more than 100 people should up simultaneously, we should have space for them too!

Ahh, it is such a relief to have finally found our "perfect" spot! I thought the search would never end! If you can believe it, we talked to and/or researched sixteen different places before we found this one. Oh, I am so happy that we have secured a place at last, for this means that the one (important) detail which was holding up everything else has now been cleared! So while it opens up a whole lot of work to be done, at the same time it is a relief to finally be able to start all that work. Expect to see a lot more content being added in the next few weeks to the G.A.M. Convention's Web site and social media accounts (such as Facebook). We will have a lot more information about our activities for this year posted soon for everyone to read and share!

People have been asking about what they can expect to see at G.A.M. this year. While we can't say, "This is everything that will be there as set in stone!" quite yet, we wanted to share some details with you about what we are planning on having.

More concrete details and the schedule of events will be announced as we get closer to the day of the convention. But our plan currently is:

Main Events

  • Video: Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva movie (~2 hours)
  • Discussion panel: Anime & manga around Uintah County (1 hour)
  • Video: Patlabor TV episodes (~1 hour)
  • Event: Costume showcase (cosplay display) (1 hour)
  • Discussion panel: Japanese video games & how to spot them (1 hour)
  • Video game tournament (Super Smash Bros.) (2 hours)

Concurrent Side Events

  • Video game tournament sign-ups (6 hours)
  • Video game free-play (multi-player games) (8 hours)

We are aiming for a family-friendly convention. Therefore all of the videos, panels, and games will be appropriate for most ages - everything will be rated the equivalent of PG-13 or less.

Bonus Announcement: We are proud to announce that children under ten years old will get into this year's convention... FOR FREE! That's right, there will be no need for a babysitter just because you want to go to G.A.M. Make it a family function: bring all of your family, young and old... and don't forget your friends too!
